Welcome to the first progress check!
These past two weeks have been productive for our team Crab, and we have thought of an official name: “Deep Clean”. It looks like our group has touched mostly every aspect of the production.
Story, Character modeling, Environment concept and modeling, and VFX
I focused on environment concept art for the houses in "crabville" and touched on some VFX and story.
I created four crab houses, and thanks to fellow team members, we have started blocking them out. For VFX, Nhu and I figured out how to create a body of water in UE, which was just some presets and environmental landscaping.

One of my favorite things about Team Crab is that our discussions have been productive and initiative when we have questions about the production and story.
Another note, I’ve been trying my best to take notes of everything. Especially with UE because I’m also participating in Dim. I’m mostly just focused on VFX for their group because there’s a lot of glowing/magical visual effects they want. So recently, Andy and I worked on studying how Niagara works. We started by creating very simple particles.
My goals for next week:
finish all concept art, especially the environment and characters.
Start roughly rigging these creatures
Start lighting the blocked environment of "crabville". So I’ll be making water caustics through substance designer and using that as a mask in UE
Lastly, I really want to work more on Niagara because Dim relies so much on VFX
